Sure, that would be the easiest way, but I want to specifically avoid using docker, so I can fully understand how netmaker works to merge it into my LXC container server systems.

I haven't tried myself, but I just had a conversation with someone who tried to setup netmaker without docker. It looks like the doc is not up to date, some things are not documented...
