Node Creation Issue
I can't find a way to move existing messages into a thread, so I'll just create one and copy the messages over instead:
Hi, I just upgraded from v0.14.6 to v0.16.1 - Did the creation process of nodes change? I couldn't find anything about it in the changelog, but now when I create a new network, a matching node isn't automatically generated
Also, when I try to create a node manually via a post request to /api/nodes/{network}, I get "401: You are unauthorized to access this endpoint", even though I'm using the masterkey (other API requests seem to work correctly, so there shouldn't be an issue with the key itself)
Apparently the masterkey cannot be used for this authentication as the error message changes when I'm using an access key - It is now looking for a request body (even though none should be provided, according to the docs), and when I do try to provide a body, it seems to search for an existing user named key-{accesskey} for some reason.. (Error code 500: user key-ACCESSKEY_HERE does not exist) TL;DR: Is there any way to create a node in version 0.16.1? It was an automatic process in v0.14.6. Any help will be appreciated 🙂
Can any dev tell me if it's a bug or by design? 🤔 I want to know if I should try to fix it or adjust
The issue seems to persist in v0.16.2
The way things are now, neither Ingress Gateways nor Egress Gateways are usable 😥

will attempt to get answers to you today
can you provide more detail on the issue(s) you are having with gateways?
t
Thank you 🙂
My issue is with the creation of Nodes - since I can't create any nodes, I can't assign any as a gateway either
b
can you not create a node using netclient join?
t
I'm using external clients only, so it will work on most platforms
In v0.14.6, a new node is created whenever I create a new network (either via GUI or API), but this functionality doesn't seem to work in v0.16.1 and above, and for some reason I can't create nodes manually via the API either
I may be misunderstanding something, but everything worked pretty well before updating (and it still does while using an older server version)
My main usage for NetMaker (at this point in time) is as a VPN server
Before updating, I used to create a network (e.g "vpn"), then set the node that was (automatically) created for that network as a gateway, similarly to what's being done in the quick-start bash script
b
with the change to mq authentication, some api endpoints were updated
a node should be created on the server when you create a new network unless you have set CLIENT_MODE=off
t
I don't remember setting that, but can you point me to the file I can check it at?
b
it is in the docker-compose file
t
You're right, it is set to "on", but it's the same in the file for the earlier version as well
Did it not account for it before for some reason?
Oh
Never mind, you said "off"
b
there has been no change to client_mode processing
t
Then it isn't disabled - is there anything else I can check in that case?
