installing the netclient .deb on my proxmox host seems to have buggered up the xtermjs shell

not sure yet. will investigate more shortly when i get home
surely must be something simple
fixed it
just edited the hosts to:

127.0.0.1 localhost
[LAN IP] [HOSTNAME]
and removed the .local on the end of both
dunno what happened there but works now.

maybe hostctl (netclient uses the library i read?) took some liberties 😄

hostctl gives the profile default to the vanilla contents and should not touch it, but as you said, could be a bug in the library

could be.. maybe more likely proxmox is fickle about its hosts file
i think it adds a .local domain to its entries by default
unless specified otherwise
