@User on a Mac, you need netclient, wireguard-go and wg all installed. wg is actually 'wireguard-tools' you need to download it, 'make' it, change name and install. I think the devs were looking to get rid of 'wg' as a dependancy because it's really only a 500 line bash script, but not sure if this is finished yet. Would be good because to create a complete installer you need to 'make' wg and wireguard-go, add security entitlements, sign, build into an installer, and notarise the installer. But I did make a package yesterday with netclient-arm64 and installed it on an M1 Mac and it works fine...
